The organisers of the programme “Adventure of Science: Women and Glaciers of Central Asia” have announced the opening of applications for the annual educational expedition that will take place in August 2026 in Ala-Archa National Park in Kyrgyzstan.

The expedition is a ten-day fully funded programme aimed at supporting and advancing women in science, as well as promoting fields such as glaciology and mountaineering. The programme is open to young women aged 18–25 from Central Asian countries.

During the expedition, participants will learn the basics of mountain research and Earth sciences, explore methods of field observation, and gain practical experience working in a mountain environment. Training will be conducted by a team of women instructors together with a certified mountain guide, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.

No prior experience in mountaineering or scientific research is required to apply. Applicants are expected to have an interest in natural sciences, be motivated to actively participate in the educational modules, and reside in one of the Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan.

The programme fully covers participants’ expenses, including transportation, training, accommodation, and meals during the expedition.
