The WMO Global Cryosphere Watch released its Snow Assessment for Winter 2024-2025, covering Northern Hemisphere and regional aspects including Central Asia.
The assessment shows abnormal snow patterns: while European areas experienced unusually low snow levels by March 2025, Central Asian regions recorded higher-than-normal snow cover during the same period, which subsequently led to increased spring flooding risks.
The report is compiled as part of WMO's contribution to the UN International Year of Glaciers' Preservation 2025 and provides critical data for monitoring seasonal snow changes across mountain regions.
